SignShine II - Advanced Signing

Caught the signing fever? Good news: there's always more to learn. Now that your child understands the basic idea of using sign language to communicate, there's a whole world of possibilities. Signing will help your baby or toddler enthusiastically announce when he has spotted a dog, bus, another baby, and so much more. Now she can share with you her feelings - whether they're happy, sad, or hurt - learn the alphabet and the colors (before she is even two!) Your conversations and will become much more meaningful, and as a parent, you'll develop the tools to use sign language for early discipline and even for teaching manners!
Class meets for 10 weeks; all materials are included.
Wondering what signing is all about? During this two-and-a-half-hour Parents' Workshop you'll get the low down: research, benefits, and answers to all your questions. You'll learn when and how to start communicating with your child via Sign Language and learn fun and functional signs. Not only will you walk away with useful handouts, but you'll also learn how to enrich your child's development of language, speech, vocabulary, and intelligence using American Sign Language (ASL).
This class is offered only twice a year. Please ensure your spot in the class by contacting us today. Attending with your child is optional. All materials are included.

"You are my SignShine" - MomME Support Group

Time to learn, love, and grow together. Connect with other moms in a supportive and nurturing environment to share all the joys, trials, and tribulations of the first year of motherhood. Bond over sleep deprivation! Your babies interact and continue their social and motor development. All the while, we'll practice Baby Sign Language through music, dancing, and storytelling.
Class meets for 10 weeks; all materials are included.
$290
Caregivers:
Is everyone on board? Introduce your nanny or caretaker to the world of signing, so she can be part of the fun experience as well. When your little one catches the signing bug, he'll expect everyone to understand him (even the person behind you in line at the grocery store). The more people and the more scenarios that are signing with your child, the better. When your child is exposed to signs from everyone in her world, she will surely pick it up faster! Nanny and baby will create an even closer bond as they learn and practice communication through signing.
All materials are included.
Toddlers' Language Development :
Are you amazed by your child? Of course you are! And you have good reason to be!! Toddlers learn at a rapid rate. Their brains are like sponges and their enthusiasm for discovering the world is boundless. Shining Stars will help you take advantage of this incredible stage in your child's life, when they're thirsty for new knowledge and excited about the process of learning. Kids will add to their brain power through guided songs, language development activities, vocabulary booster games, and much, much more. Our weekly "Surprise Box" will keep your toddlers on their toes as they guess what the new theme will be. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to "exercise" your little one's mind in a fun setting!
Educators:
Educators' Workshop for Preschool through Elementary School

Interested in using ASL in a classroom setting? This program helps in improving class management, reducing separation anxiety, and decreasing behavioral problems. Emphasis will be placed on positive communication, developing literacy and social skills, and spicing up your curriculum in fun and creative ways. You will learn about all the latest research related to sign language in the classroom, obtain helpful resources, and discover how to involve parents in the learning process. Enhance the bond you have with your students as you create a stronger connection through signing.
All materials are included.
Private training available at your school or other educational facility.
Special Needs:
Sign Language for Children with Special Needs

Sign language provides numerous social, emotional, cognitive and communicative benefits for children with autism, such as: stimulation of speech and language development, reduction of negative social behaviors, and an increase in social interaction. Additionally, sign language provides a way for children with autism to express themselves, as well as help develop cognitive structures. Sign language is a wonderful tool for parents, educators and families of children with special needs.
Educators' Workshop - Children with Special Needs

Speech language professionals and therapists are encouraged to use sign language simultaneously with speech in treating children who are slow to develop communication. This workshop will guide you on how to communicate successfully with the special needs child. Many of the aberrant behaviors associated with developmental disabilities are rooted in the frustration associated with an inability to communicate. Through signing you will alleviate this frustration by visually supporting the spoken language and enhance verbal and emotional communication.
Sign Language interpretation is a great way for deaf and hard-of-hearing people to communicate with the hearing world. Interpreters can be used in almost any setting ranging from doctors appointments to concerts! Interpreters are needed for all deaf people: men, women, boys and girls. If you need an interpreter or someone you know needs an interpreter for any setting please contact SignShine. If your child is taking classes and you have a deaf family member that would like to participate please inform the teacher so that we may provide you with more information.
Enrichment and Fun:
Celebrating your child's birthday and looking for a fun, exciting and unique experience? Celebrate your child's birthday with SignShine. We will sign and sing fun songs and rhymes, enjoy a puppet show, play games, blow bubbles and enjoy an art project to celebrate this special moment! Not only the kids will be entertained and have fun, but also adults will learn how to incorporate sign language into child's favorite songs and routines immediately. What a great and meaningful way to remember such a special moment!
For ages 1-6
We will include bubbles and I Love You stickers to each child!
Signing with Dr. Seuss books? Well not exactly, but you'll be amazed how meaningful and enriching reading combined with signing can be. You'll learn many ways you can practice sign language while reading your child's favorite books. Since most kids like to read the same books over and over, it's a perfect opportunity to use repetition in signing. Research shows that signing with books will help your child's reading readiness, develop literacy skills, and enhance comprehension. Join us for a unique storytime where your child will be engaged both by stories and sign language.

"We recently had Etel Leit from Sign Shine give a presentation about Baby Sign Language at our branch. What a phenomenal program! My only regret was that I didn't get any pictures... the battery on my camera died.
Etel had a very relaxed and easy charm.
The kids loved her songs, and the program flowed very nicely… "

Brentwood Library"Manette from SignShine was a big hit at the Wilmington Branch of LAPL! The kids quickly learned how to sign colors, animals and the alphabet. She was patient and enthusiastic with a group ranging from 3 - 10 year olds. I would highly recommend her and Sing Shine".

Is your child the next American Idol? Perhaps singing (and signing) The Wheels on the Bus won't impress Simon, but it'll sure be a lot of fun for you and your sweetie. Learn how to incorporate sign language into your child's favorite songs - a great way for kids to remember signs and to make singing more interactive. We'll sing and teach the signs for all the kids' classics.
See and Sign Adventure at the Los Angeles Zoo

What are the signs for lions and tigers and bears (oh my!)? Let's head to the Los Angeles Zoo and find out. Can you think of a more perfect way to learn the signs for animals than to visit them in person? This exciting event will help you and your child continue your signing journey in a lively setting; it's an interactive experience you won't soon forget! Everyone's welcome.
This special event is offered only once a year.
