Easter activities for toddlers can feel repetitive. Even though the games and treats are fun for toddlers, it can get boring to do the same things over again. Why not take that excitement and try some new easter activities before the big day? We’ve made a list of 5 fun easter activities for toddlers that are educational and use sensory play to help your toddler develop all of their skills!
Easter egg alphabet hunt
This easter activity can help your toddler learn their letters! You’ll need reusable eggs and some alphabet stickers. That’s it! Put the alphabet stickers inside the eggs before you go and hide them and tell your toddler that that whole alphabet is waiting to be found. As they find the letters, try to have them put them in the proper order to help them learn and to help keep track of what they’ve already found!
Color scavenger hunt
This activity can be done with real or reusable eggs and it’s meant to help your toddler learn to associate the names of colors with physical objects of the same color! Make a list of all the colors you’ve hidden and how many there are (we don’t need any forgotten eggs) and help your toddler keep track of how many they’ve found. When they find the eggs, ask them what color they are instead of providing the answer for them. When they find the next one in that color they’re more likely to remember!
After the scavenger hunt is over, sit down with them and group the eggs together based on color. You can even show them which colors combined make the other colors they have!
Plastic eggs and shaving cream activity
Easter activities for toddlers can get a little messy. Fill a plastic tub or bucket with shaving cream and hide some plastic eggs in the bucket as you go! This sensory play will help your toddler develop their motor skills and it’s sure to be lots of fun. Try suggesting that they put the shaving cream inside of the plastic eggs and see how many they can do on their own. Their fine motor skills will get a workout and they will have tons of fun doing it!
Easter egg rescueÂ
This one requires a few more items than the others, but most of them can be found in your kitchen! Take a plastic bin or a cardboard box and put your plastic eggs inside. Then you’re going to put lines of tape across the top so it looks like the lasers in spy movies. The goal of the activity is to get the eggs out of the bin without touching the tape. Then give your toddler some options in the tools they use to rescue all of their eggs. You can offer them spoons, tongs, spatulas, etc, and watch them figure out which tool works the best.Â
Bonus tip: if your toddler gets bored quickly, fill the eggs with little treats or surprises to encourage them to keep going!

Easter egg water activity
This Easter activity for your toddler should probably be done outside. Fill a plastic bin or kiddie pool with water and drop in all kinds of Easter goodies! Plastic eggs, rubber ducks, you can even add soap and make big bubbles to play with. This sensory activity can help teach your toddler about what makes things float or sink! Give them the opportunity to find out which items float and then have them compare the items with those that sink to see if they can spot some of the differences! These early scientific concepts are sure to spark an ongoing curiosity in your toddler and they can have messy, sensory fun while they learn!
