The Reason I wore a Wedding Dress

• I am not Small. It is the World that is too Big. •

“The best presents come in the smallest packages,” my mom would tell since I was a little girl. You might think she urged me to find my prince charming, the one who will go down on his knees and propose. But, a shining diamond ring wasn’t what she was referring to. She was talking about me.

Yes, I am petite.

I have a few step stools in my home, one in the kitchen and one in my walk-in closet. I send all my new clothes to my seamstress who fixes and shortens them. Or sometimes I purchase my clothes at the junior department in stores.

Lately, I must balance on my tiptoes to kiss my growing teen daughter.

Being so petite, I enjoy luxurious legroom on airplanes. I appear either in front of a picture, or I am entirely covered by taller people. I never have to worry about blocking anyone’s view in the theatre. I meet people in the stores because I need help to reach the items on the top shelves.

Jane, a very good and very tall friend of mine, once told me that my height didn’t match my personality. “If you were tall,” she announced high above me, “your presence would lift the ceiling off this entire room.”

Honestly, I love that I don’t measure up to everyone’s physical height. Unlike what the myths says about short people, I’ve felt this way since I was young.

That’s me –
Petite.

The Moon Intention has been my daily routine for a few years now. Some of you follow me on the internet and practice it with me with excitement.

A few months ago. I started adding an exciting intention. I wrote:

‘I am doing something that I have never done before!’

If you ever took my parenting classes, you probably heard me suggest learning something new. A new skill or a hobby will stimulate your brain and get rid for the new parent’s fogginess. You are so busy loving and caring for your child, that often you forget about yourselves. Let’s get your stamina and self-esteem moving. When you try something new or do something for the first time you will feel better, more empowered and filled with light.

It might sound ridiculous and far-fetched, but really, all I did was put an intention down on a piece of paper. I put my pure desire into experiencing something wonderful, something I had never done before. Small, big, safe, daring, it didn’t matter. What I wanted was to create this moment that I will remember forever, one which will engage me in a fresh, open moment.

After writing my intentions on the day of the new moon in the present tense, as they are happening now, I reread them, night after night. Making a mental and emotional rehearsal to what I am inviting into my life.

‘I am doing something that I have never done before!’

Celebrating my new website and my online video classes, I needed to take some time off and completely relax. Pool, ocean, great meals, and a lot of sunshine was my destination, far from programming, planning, designing, writing, and editing. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was the destination.

As I involve you in some of my days, on my second night, I planned my outfit with my Instagram follower (you should join as well, you will be intrigued by the things I share). I showed off my beautiful white summer dress and asked for opinions about the jewelry on a poll. Most voted “no necklace.” Beautiful natural tan, white dress, long dangly earrings. I put my hair up in a high bun and there I was. Ready to conquer the world.

As we walked during the end of the sunset to my favorite seafood restaurant, I looked around me and slowly realized that all the people around us in the resort were also wearing white. Women, all in glamorous white summer dresses, and men with the Miami Vice look. Curiously, I kept searching and there it was, a big party on the resort lawn. A couple of hundred of guests were wearing simply white. It was the opening for next year’s wedding dress collection by the world renown designer Enzoani. There were designers from all over the world. They were busy eating and schmoozing outside along the shore. The sky was dark blue, and the moon was shining full. I was reminded of my moon intentions.

There it was.

Runway.

I always knew I could never walk on a professional runway. This pleasure is saved for towering skinny girls. Though sometimes I wondered how it would feel to walk on high heels, cat walking forward and back with courage, flair, and daringness.

The moon created this magical moment just for me.

I looked at the runway. The models were behind the curtains touching up their make-up. The runway was ready. Why not!

I took one step. It was frightening. Ella, the confident person was suddenly bombarded in a flash of anxious insecurities. The thoughts running through my head were:

Will I trip? Will my hair look funny from a breeze? Will I look silly? Am I embarrassing myself? Am I walking too fast or too slow? Is everyone laughing at me?

But it was all gone after the first few steps. I put on my petite little girl smile and walked straight ahead, smiling at the moon who was my biggest audience. The designers did not even notice that I am really not part of the show. My beaming spirit was shining from within. And just like that,  I was apart of the wedding dress collection for the next season.

My intention was fulfilled.

If you are dreaming of doing something that you were told you will never be able to do, dare to make it happen! Dare to first desire it and dare to believe you can do it. You must be precise in what you want. You must truly believe that you deserve it. You must put out this intention, and when the opportunity presents itself, do it. Trust the Universe to give it to you in a way you couldn’t plan for it. This is not a farfetched new-age spirituality talk. New Moon Intentions is a formula, a science, to get precisely what you want.

I am petite, and I wanted to experience something new in my life. I planted a seed, I envisioned it happening, I watered it with determination and faith and let the universe manifest it in my life.

That’s how I walked on a runway.

What is your intention?
