100% Squeezed Sunshine!
Summer is here! Beyond the beautiful sunshine and the long day, what I love the most is the great oppututnies to spend more time with my kids. No homework, afternoon activities or soccer practices. Just time off from the year routine. On top of longer days filled with sun and brightness.
Summer activities do not have to be costly. You can definitely plan a family vacation, but in the meantime, enjoy each other on a day to day basis.
Here are my top 3 fun (completely free!) activities:
1. Family Games:
Such a great way to spend time quality time together. Learn about each other’s abilities and way of communicating. Games do not always have to be competitive, but teaching cooperation and teamwork. One of my favorites is a family puzzle, we lay it on the table and put the pieces together as a family.
2. Cooking & Baking Together:
This is one of my favorites! Creating together as family is one of my best joys. Kids love cooking and baking. The idea of making something from scratch is fascinating to them. They can learn about measurements, quantities, source of foods and much more. You don’t have to cook or bake a complicated recipe. Even a simple fruit salad or decorated boiled eggs are fun and enjoyable.
Hiking is a fantastic place for a short getaway! Enjoy the trains and the beauty with your children, at any age, children while giving you and your spouse time to connect and also providing good conversation for the family afterward.
Did you know family over a weekend help strengthen relationships and grow your bond as a family. Have older kids? Or even younger ones? Match the hike to your child’s age. Allowing them to bring a friend is a great way to get to know the individuals your kids are hanging out with.
